Serpae Tetra are some of the most popular aquarium fish available on the market, hardy and easy to care for these are ideal for all community fish tanks. Growth Size 40 cm

Serpae Tetra are found throughout the Amazon drainage in Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

Serpae Tetras are a shoaling species, and are best kept in large numbers. For best results we recommend keeping at least 6 in a shoal - the more the happier they will be.

Ideally slightly acidic water conditions are provided between 6.5pH - 7pH however they will happily live in conditions ranging up to pH of 7.5 or higher. Temperatures should range between 24-26°C.
Serpae Tetra should be fed a variety of flake, frozen, freeze dried and live foods for a varied diet.  Being omnivores they will happily accept a wide range of foods.
Serpae Tetra are peaceful community fish and are generally accepeted by a wide range of tank mates. Please see the compatability chart below for more information. When sexing Serpae Tetra males are slimmer and have a straighter blue line along the side. Provide water temperature of 25°C, with a very soft water pH 5 subdued low level lighting. Eggs are then laid over fine leaved plants and hatch within 24 hours. Newly hatched fry should be fed on live food infusoria or liquid food for approximately 10-12 days, they should then be moved onto newly hatched brine shrimp.
